Vacuum degasification

Vacuum degassing is the highly effective solution for removing trapped air from liquids or aqueous material. By lowering the pressure inside a vessel containing the liquid material, this process would enhance its purity and solid-state strength.

Some materials, by their chemistry, are either very thick or contain a lot of surface tension and therefore entrap air very easily, creating unwanted bubbles in the material. If not removed before cures then the air bubbles will cause defects such as nodules, cavities, hollows in the finish. Sometimes those defects remain out of sight just below the surface only to appear after a period of use.

Prior to the curing stage, the material is put into the vacuum degassing chamber, and the air pressure above it reduced. Air bubbles therefore expand and rise to the surface. Products that have been degassed would have a far improved tear strength over the undegassed.

The application also allows the volume to meet rigid requirement. Especially when the silicone products need to be filmed by other material, the volume control has become the crucial factor in quality.

Typical applications for liquid silicone are products that require higher precision. As known, the conventional way is to make a bladder with a gap left for filling silicone gel, which is somehow inadequate and causing an unfavorable appearance. A dent mark is afterward formed on the rim. (See below figure A&B)
